The main objective is to teach participants how to transform complex scientific research into clear, engaging, and accessible audiovisual content, increasing the visibility and impact of their work.
The course provides comprehensive training in university volunteering, aimed mainly at EURECA-PRO students and staff, as well as anyone interested in social participation, inclusion, and equality.
It is an online, asynchronous, and flexible course lasting 10 hours and worth 0.5 ECTS credits, with no previous knowledge or qualifications required.
Its main objective is to provide participants with the knowledge and practical tools needed to participate responsibly in volunteering activities, covering legal, organisational, ethical, and social aspects, as well as skills in communication, teamwork, inclusion, and social intervention.
Key topics include:
- The legal framework, rights, and responsibilities of volunteers in Spain.
- Different types of volunteering and their connection to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
- University volunteering at the University of León.
- Equality and gender awareness.
- Intergenerational volunteering and active ageing.
- Inclusive mentoring and educational support.
- Inclusive communication, empathy, and active listening.
- Ethics, boundaries, coordination, and volunteer self-care.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to understand the volunteering framework, apply communication and intervention skills, work effectively in teams, act ethically and inclusively, and transfer the competences gained to academic, professional, and personal contexts.
Assessment is continuous and formative, focusing on understanding the content, participation, practical application, and reflection on learning. The course is coordinated by Adelina Rodríguez Pacios and Beatriz Abella García, with professionals from the University of León’s Inclusion, Equality and Social Action Area, in collaboration with EURECA-PRO.
No previous knowledge or specific qualifications are required. The course is open to students and staff of EURECA-PRO, as well as members of the general public interested in university volunteering, social participation, inclusion, equality, and educational support.
Participants should ensure that the information provided in the registration form is accurate and complete. Once the pre-registration process has been completed, participants will receive confirmation and, where applicable, instructions for accessing the online course.
As the course is delivered online and asynchronously, participants may access the training materials and complete the activities flexibly during the established course period.
Completion of the course requirements and assessment activities will be necessary to obtain the corresponding 0.5 ECTS credits.
Intercultural communication is not merely about adapting to difference. It concerns how cultural frameworks shape perception, communication, power, and moral judgment. In an era marked by globalization, European integration, digitalization, climate debates, scientific controversies, and political polarization, intercultural encounters have become structural conditions of professional and civic life.
This course offers a practical introduction to intercultural communication and ethical reasoning. It combines cultural theory, European historical analysis, ethical frameworks, conflict theory, science communication, and AI-mediated communication. Participants develop analytical clarity and practical competence for navigating pluralistic environments.

This course introduces students to the fundamental concepts of intercultural communication and ethics, emphasising cultural and historical awareness.
It offers theoretical understanding and practical skills for effective and respectful interaction across diverse cultures, micro-cultures, and different professional environments. The participants will learn about the impact of cultural diversity on communication styles, values, and ethical perspectives – both in theory and by examining various frameworks and real-life case studies.
Course is designed to equip participants with the skills to navigate and resolve intercultural misunderstandings and ethical dilemmas in both personal and professional contexts. Emphasis is given to challenges specific to our era and in the context of European values: globalization, particularities of electronic communication and distance cooperation, climate change perceptions, European unification and cooperation challenges, and sustainability.
